Karen Dianne Wielosinski left the life, people and puppy she loved on September 11, 2012, a day of significant poignancy because it also was her wedding anniversary. Karen Webster and James Wielosinski married in 1965 and lived a long, fulfilling life together for exactly 47 years. She passed away in her Livonia home after fighting long and hard through many significant health battles. Her husband Jim fought bravely alongside her and brought comfort and care to her every moment of every day.
Karen was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, on May 17, 1943, and is the cherished daughter of Doris Doucette Webster and stepdaughter of Kenneth Webster and the devoted sister of the late Mike Webster. She was the proud mother of Conny (Tim) Coon and Michael (Dawnelle) Wielosinski and was a doting, involved grandmother to four granddaughters -- Hana, Meaghan, Hilary and Lauren -- who adored and loved their Ama. She was the adoptive mom of a fluffy black puppy she named Suri, a word she said symbolized the spirit of a survivor. A 1962 graduate of Riverside High School in Dearborn Heights, Karen was naturally named class clown.
She had personality and spunk that defied her tiny frame and filled a room. Kids loved Karen and she was drawn to them. Friends took comfort in her strength and found joy in her laughter and spirited sense of humor. In times of trouble, she always found the right words, perfect gesture or simple kindness. She was supportive of her two children through good times and bad and was there for them every time they needed her, even if they didn't realize it at the time. She loved being on the golf course, laughing over leisurely lunches with friends and playing with her grandkids. She cherished time with her husband Jim, whether they were skiing, traveling to car shows, riding motorcycles or simply sitting on their beloved front porch.
Karen lived, loved and laughed with an unwavering passion and knew that each day was a precious gift to hold dear. Even on her most difficult days, she found ways to be optimistic, cheerful and pleasant and was eternally grateful for the loving care she received from her husband, who tended to her and loved her in sickness and in health.
Karen not only wanted to leave a legacy of happiness but also wanted to leave her family and friends with a meaningful quote that she had always loved:
Remember me with smiles and laughter,
For that's the way I'll remember you all.
If you can only remember me with tears,
Then don't remember me at all.
