Ione Carol Hamm, lovingly known as "Josie," of Westland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024, at the age of 94. Born to Glory and Charlotte Maison on November 24, 1929, Ione lived a life full of love, creativity, and dedication to her family and faith.
Ione was the beloved wife of the late Paul Hamm, whom she married on April 24, 1954. Together, they built a warm and loving home, raising their family with devotion and care. Ione is survived by her loving children: Dennis Hamm of Austintown, OH; Janet (Ron) Wysocki of Northville, MI; Patti (Tom) Brennan of Blackstock, SC; son-in-law Bill Janiga of Northville, MI; daughter-in-law Christine Hamm of Belleville, MI: and Brother-in-law Terry Campbell (Pam) of Canton, MI
She was a devoted grandmother to 11 grandchildren, cherished great-grandmother to 23 great-grandchildren, and a proud great-great-grandmother to 3. Ione was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, her son Bill, infant twins Jerry and Johnney, granddaughter Angie Fales, her brother Donald Maison, and her beloved dog Becky.
A longtime parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Garden City, Ione volunteered with the church's women's group, reflecting her deep commitment to her faith and community. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing—a lifelong passion—as well as painting on canvas. The spring, summer, and fall seasons were often spent at the family cottage on Lobdell Lake, where she cherished moments on the pontoon with family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 2-8 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, with a Rosary service at 7 PM.
An 11:00 AM Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Garden City. Final Viewing at the church will begin at 10:30 AM.

Ione will be laid to rest at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West Cemetery.
