Gordon Edward Kraning, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on December 5, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, to Herbert and Grace Kraning, Gordon’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and family.
He was the cherished husband of Shirley Kraning for 65 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Gordon is survived by his loving children, Lynda (David) Giacobozzi, Gordon Emil Kraning, and Susan (Mark) Cooper, who carry forward his spirit and values. He is preceded in death by his infant son, David Edward Kraning.
As a proud grandfather, Gordon delighted in the lives of his grandchildren: Samantha Giacobozzi (Aaron Twerdok), Lauren Giacobozzi Hash, Lesley Giacobozzi (Michael May), Spencer Cooper, Jenna Cooper, and Elyse Cooper. He was also a devoted great-grandfather to David Hash, Andrew Gordon Hash (named after his great-grandfather), Max Giacobozzi-Walkuski, and Mila May, who brought him immense joy.
Gordon is also survived by his brother Kenneth (Barbara) Kraning and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom he held dear. He is preceded in death by his brother, Herbert (Rosemary) Kraning, as well as his grandson-in-law, Jeffrey Hash.
Gordon dedicated 37 years of his life to Ford Motor Company as a Development Engineer, where he was known for his work ethic and commitment to excellence. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he had a lifelong passion for golf and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Though no formal services will be held at this time, Gordon's memory will be cherished by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Society.
Gordon Kraning will be profoundly missed, but his legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
