Mr. Mack, may you know that your teachings, memories and lessons taught will go on. You inspired me to become a teacher and were my favorite of all time. From learning about the deciduous forest, having a Chinchilla named Boo Boo, “animals find your mates!” at camp, me seeing you search for a dollar bill in your shirt pocket and getting you your “poison” from the teachers lounge (Diet Coke), your mint green Ford Windstar that we would go to to help you carry in bins of papers, math club when the “new” computer lab was added to Randolph, your shirts seemingly always being one button off, you taking those black combs and brushing your hair at recess, and so many more amazing memories and laughs! Thank you Mr. Mack for all you did in the world of education. You will be missed but never forgotten!

It was the best time in my school life. So much fun with our activities and friends.

So very sorry for your family! Fred was a wonderful  teacher and friend to all. I knew him when he helped Gary Cienuich and teachers write the science modules for K-6th grade. I packed the modules for many years. He often stopped in to see how things were going, and always wanted to make sure  I was ok lifting and packing the modules.  If he forgot to return books, like 30 at a time, the missing books could always be found in the trunk of his car. 🤣 Diane Smith

Fred was always so kind and helpful.  When I was a new LPS teacher, Fred trained me to use the science curriculum.  He was so patient and thorough.  Every time I saw him afterwards, he took the time to really talk to me and always made me feel as if he really cared.  He did that with everyone, students and staff alike.  He will be missed, but not forgotten.  
My prayers are with you.

Our family would like to express our deepest sympathy for the loss of your father Mr. Mack. He was an excellent educator who shared his enthusiasm for learning to all students. We are grateful for all the extra time he gave with school activities . They say Good Teachers leave their handprints on a child’s heart forever. Mr. Mack was my teacher in the early 1970's at Hoover elementary and he left a lasting impression as the best teacher I ever had. He encouraged me to pursue my love of writing fiction by praising my short stories & telling my parents about my capabilities. I remember him giving the class a talking to one day about not making fun of people and hurting their feelings just because they may look different after I had been picked on because of my red hair and freckles. He was a true gentleman and his love for kids was always evident. 

To dear Mr. Mack.  I started practicing in 2015 and I had been seeing Mr Mack since then.  His optimism and inquisitive mind will be missed in my exam room.  He was an entertaining patient and a kind soul.  His wife would accompany him (until her illness) and she would roll his eyes and beam at the same time at his Dad jokes.  I only wish I had heard him teach, I know he would have been one of my favorites as he was one of my favorite patients.  Rest easy Mr Mack, you will be missed greatly. -Dr Aschemeyer

For many years, I had the pleasure of teaching with Fred at Hoover Elementary School in Livonia. Those were such good years! So rich with great teachers and new things happening. Fred loved Science more than anything. And his wonderful wife Pat. He will be missed.

Rest In Peace Mr. Mack.  You were, without a doubt, the most outstanding teacher and person I have ever known. I had the privilege of being a student of his  in 3rd and 4th grade at Lincoln Elementary in 1958-1959.  He had the ability to engage children who had no love for school. He made school fun for me and changed my life.   I thought of him many times and recounted my memories to many people.  I think he may have been one of kind.  I am a better person to have known him. This world will miss you Mr. Mack but I’m sure Heaven is even a better place with you and your beloved Wife. 

I had the privilege and honor to have Mr Mack as a teacher for 5th and 6th grade during the early 80,s. He always had projects that were hands on. From launching a rocket to the moon with astronauts in the capsule outside to his week long camp. Best teacher I ever had!

Mr. Mack was my science teacher in 1997 and one of the most memorable teachers I ever had. I think every student of his remembers their mammal project and how he helped us remember the anatomical name for fingers,  “phalanges”. His class was always so fun. It was very evident that he loved teaching and loved his students. He was definitely one of a kind. 

So very sorry for your loss! I was blessed to have Fred Mack as my first mentor when I became his teaching partner in 1994 at Randolph Elementary.  I was serving as a long term sub in sixth grade second semester. I had the privilege of attending winter camp with him as a chaperone as well. He provided so much laughter and oh so many memories! I later became a full time kindergarten teacher at Randolph and Fred Mack and Keith Fogel brought so much fun to our staff meetings! He was one of the good ones! His memory will forever live in my heart!!!

Mr. Mack, May you Rest In Peace. You were one of the best teachers I ever had. You were funny, kind, engaging, and noticed the good in all kids. Your presence in my life changed its trajectory in that you made me realize my potential, love of math, and desire to be a teacher. Thank you for blessing my life.

What a great man! His smile brightened up the room, and he was as kind as the day is long. Our family was hugely impacted by Mr. Mack! 
We are so sorry for your loss, both parents, in such a short span of time. He followed his love to heaven!
