Dorothy Louise Kovac was born on February 15, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Nicholas P. Kovac, siblings: Helen, Margaret, Walter, Frank and Richard. She is survived by her four children: Caroline (Jeffrey) Kressler, Nicholas (Diane) Kovac, David (Mary) Kovac and Elaine (Daniel) Malone, eight grandchildren: Maria, Matthew, Carrie, Nicholas, Andrea, Kevin, Joseph and Dana and ten great grandchildren and her sister, Carol Storch.
Dorothy graduated in 1941 from Gerard High School in Gerard, Ohio, where she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Caroline and Joseph Licht. After graduation, she moved to Highland Park, Michigan, where she met her husband Nick.
After raising her children, Dorothy and Nick traveled extensively in Europe with a particular love of Croatia, their ancestral home. In addition to providing for their children’s education, Dorothy and Nick also generously supported their grandchildren’s college educations.
Dorothy was an excellent cook and baker which was reflective of her ethnic heritage. Dorothy was a passionate reader who shared her love of books with family and friends.
Above all, Dorothy will be remembered for her total devotion and commitment to her family.
