Donald Colvin Pollock, 87, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the home of his loving daughter, Janet. Born in Ontario, Canada to Robert Harold and Florence Lillian Pollock, he lived most of his life in Cleveland OH. and Livonia, MI.
Donald was a passionate man who entered service of the infantry in WWII at 17 and participated in the North Africa, Messina and Anzio campaigns as part of the 3rd Infantry. He earned a Purple Heart medal for his service. Donald was active in the Livonia Planning Commission for over 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing banjo, trumpet and button box accordion. He was the part owner of Bulldog Factory Service which made conveyor systems for the automotive industry in Detroit. In his later years he enjoyed holding his grandchildren and gardening.
Don was extremely loving and proud of his wife of over 60 years, Marilyn, as well as his four children: two daughters, Alison Wilson (Cary) of Peachtree City, GA. Janet Finley (Robert) of Howell MI, and along with two sons, Robert Pollock of Chandler, AZ and William Pollock (Barbara) of Livonia, MI. He is also survived by his brother Jack (Louise), of Mentor on the Lake, OH, as well as his 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 for a Visitation beginning at 10:00am until the 11:00am Funeral Service at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 Six Mile Road (East of I-275 and Newburgh Roads) Livonia, Michigan 48152.
Donald will be laid to rest in Glen Eden Memorial Park Cemetery, with Committal Prayers and Military Honors provided by the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.
A Memorial Luncheon will follow at Ward Evangelical Presbyterian Church 40000 Six Mile Road in Northville, Michigan
