Curtis is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years Sandra (Wirick) Walker of Livonia, son, Brandon Walker, and daughters Rachel Walker, Cecelia Walker and India Donald.
He will be missed by his siblings James Walker, Sr., CW Walker, Anna Ruth Neal (Joseph), Aaron Walker, Minnie Taylor, Freddie Walker, Christopher Walker, and his in-laws, Wayne and Joy Wirick, Deborah Wirick (Pierre) and Carl Wirick. Curtis was a beloved husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, cousin, uncle, great-uncle and a patriarch to the Hood family.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents William Walker, Sr. and Evelyn Jackson Walker, brothers William Jr. and Lawrence Walker, and sisters, Leontine Oliver and Shirley Mae Ragsdale.
Curtis was born in Edwards, Mississippi, the youngest of twelve children, and moved to Detroit, Michigan with his family at the age of 12. He attended McKenzie High School, graduating in 1976.
After high school, he worked for the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, where he became the creator and supervisor of the Audio-Visual Unit. During his time with the DWSD, Curtis made numerous beloved friends and created memories that lasted a lifetime. He retired from the DWSD after thirty-one years.
Curtis enjoyed family time, coaching his children in soccer and basketball in their early years, and teaching them how to drive as they got older. He enjoyed golf, bowling and fishing with family and friends. He had a passion for building and home remodeling, and, after being self-taught, obtained his Builders License. Curtis shared his enthusiasm for all of these activities with friends and family that he loved and cherished.
