Daughter Karen was present at her bedside when her spirit left peacefully for her final heavenly journey. Carolyn was a resident of the Farmington community for 60 years. Carolyn was born May 15, 1932 in Hammond Indiana to the late Irving Hammond Hill and Elizabeth Lane (Gallant) Hill.
Carolyn graduated from East Lansing High School in 1950 where she was a majorette all four years, team member on the Lansing Junior Tennis Club, reporter for the Trojan Trumpet school paper and was in many school plays. Carolyn attended Michigan State (College) University where she met and later married Charles Christian Krueger, Jr. on September 6, 1952 at the campus Memorial Alumni Chapel. Their union was the first to be performed at that church. Carolyn was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and worked at WKAR Radio Station as a secretary while attending college in East Lansing.
Carolyn’s children and grandchildren were the passion of her life. She is survived by her sons Charles and Robert Krueger and daughter Karen (John) Zimmerman (Krueger) and four cherished grandchildren, Cody Krueger, Carolyn, Elizabeth and Jack Zimmerman.
Carolyn was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, Piety Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. Carolyn had many creative talents and enjoyed singing in a church group choir called The Fifth Season (Season of the Heart), Additional gifts and interests include being an amazing cook, avid gardener, exceptional seamstress, interior decorating and researching her Mayflower family lineage and documenting it extensively on Ancestry. In addition, remarkably, at the age of 60 in 1992, Carolyn was awarded Michigan State First Place Champion in Roller Skating Figures.
She will be forever honored and remembered for her deep faith, loving kindness to all and complete devotion to her family. Carolyn was laid to rest alongside her beloved husband in a private family burial, officiated by Dr. James N. McGuire, on November 25, 2024 at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville Michigan.
