Alexander "Sandy" MacFarlane MacPherson Love, 93, peacefully passed away June 4, 2020. He was born on January 23, 1927 in Paisley, Scotland to Alexander "Alec" and Janet (MacPherson) Love. Sandy proudly enlisted to serve in the US Navy, serving in both WWII on the USS Quincy (CA 71) and the Korean War on the USS Des Moines (CA 134). After the war he returned to work at American Brake Block where he met the love of his life, Nancy Lee Love, and they married on April 23, 1955 in Detroit, MI. In December 1955 Sandy began his 37 year career at Cadillac Division of General Motors, retiring in June 1992.
Sandy will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, a dedicated family man, and a friend to many. He was a kind and gentle man who loved God, had a wonderful sense of humor, was an avid reader, a talented painter, enjoyed gardening, solving crossword puzzles, and taking pictures & videos. Sandy was a member of St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church where he served faithfully over the years. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family.
Sandy will be missed by his wife Nancy; his son Kevin (Debbie) Love of Harrisville, MI; his daughter Kimberly (Andy) Lim of Dexter, MI; his grandchildren Stephanie Lim of New York, NY and Brian (Christie) Lim of Longmont, CO; and step-grandchildren Adam (Jessica and children Riley & Connor) Gauss of Sacramento, CA and Bethany Gauss of Mikado, MI. Sandy was preceded in death by his sister, Euphemia Schemers and his parents Alec & Janet Love.
A private service for the family and internment at the Great Lakes National Cemetery will take place. A memorial service/celebration of Sandy’s life will be held on Saturday - July 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 West Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. Friends may visit at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. As a courtesy to the Love family, guests are asked to wear masks that cover both nose and mouth at all times. We appreciate your kind consideration.
