The family will receive friends at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston, 145 E. Mount Pleasant Ave., on Sunday, Feb. 24, from 2 to 6 p.m. A funeral service at Quinn-Hopping celebrating his life will be offered on Monday, at 11:00 a.m. The committal service will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
Peter was born Feb 2, 1921, the son of Catherine and Christian Carlson and lived in West Orange for over 85 years. He was a draftsman for Picatinny Arsenal, Zenith Engineering, and Smith Industries. Peter was also a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, West Orange and a charter member of the Augustinian Recollect, West Orange. Peter was a passionate gardener creating stunning floral landscapes at his Pleasant Valley Way home.
He was predeceased by Regina, loving wife of 61 years. Peter is survived by his seven sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Anne) of Brielle, NJ, Raymond (Sharon) of Bradenton, FL, Richard (Jean) of Deerfield Beach, FL, Thomas (Deborah) of Succasunna, NJ, Mark (Jean) of Livingston, NJ, John (Karen) of East Hanover NJ, and Paul (Karen) of Flanders, NJ. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
