Mrs. Paula Claire Sorrentino, age 79, passed away on October 11th, 2024 at Morristown Medical Center. Paula was born on May 5th, 1945 in Queens, New York, to parents Michael and Margot (Kieberich) Bacchi. She graduated from Nutley High School in 1963 where she met the love of her life, Jack. Jack and Paula were married on September 4th, 1965 and moved to Livingston, NJ in 1967 where they resided for over 57 years. Paula was a loving full-time mom to her two sons, Michael and John.
Paula was the matriarch of a family that shared the love of baseball. She was a diehard Mets fan and had a special place in her heart for her favorite player, Rusty Staub. More importantly, she loved to watch her children and grandchildren play baseball. Over the years, she was a regular fixture at Livingston Little League, Livingston High School, travel ball, and later West Essex High School and the College of Charleston games for her grandchildren. As she grew older and it became more difficult to travel, she still managed to watch every game on television. She also loved boating, traveling, her favorite country music band, Lonestar, and shopping on QVC. Above all, she was happiest when spending time with her family. The love, care, and concern she exhibited for all of her family made her the special mother and grandmother that she was.
Paula was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 59 years, Jack, who passed away just twelve days before her. The lifelong love story shared by Jack and Paula was truly one for the ages. In addition to Jack, she is also preceded in death by her parents Margot and Michael , mother and father-in law, Eileen and Albert, and brother-in-law, Edward (husband of his sister-in-law, Eileen).
Paula is survived by her children Mike (wife Donna) and John (wife Judy), grandchildren John (wife Stephanie), Bryan (fiancée Dee), Tyler, and Aydan along with sisters/brothers-in-law Albert (wife Kathryn), Anne (husband Gary), Eileen, and Billy (wife Stacy) + all of her loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a 4-hour Visitation on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E Mt Pleasant Ave, Livingston, NJ 07039, from 4:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Saint Philomena Roman Catholic Church, 386 S.
