Pat, as he was known, was born May 24, 1942, in Orange, New Jersey to Frank J Marinaro and Theresa (Roselle) Marinaro. He graduated from Livingston High School, Class of 1960. After attending courses at Rutgers, he enlisted in the Army in 1963, proudly serving for three years overseas.
He returned home, beginning his career as the owner of the waste management company, West Essex Disposal. He met his wife, Mary, in 1969. They were married in 1972. He ran his business successfully for over 30 years, happy entering retirement in 2000.
He enjoyed traveling, especially through Europe, from Germany and Spain to Ireland, with a personal highlight being a family trip to Italy. He and Mary also made an extended drive cross-country, visiting historic sites, national parks and old friends across the states. An avid sports fan, he also loved playing softball, the competition, and particularly the camaraderie of life-long friends, playing and umpiring as long as his legs would carry him. He was inducted into the USA Softball Hall of Fame in 1996.
He was loyal, generous and maintained a sense of humor through even the toughest of times. He received a Pride of Livingston award from the town in 2000. He was a proud veteran, donating to various organizations to those who served. He enjoyed all things in the water, teaching his boys to body surf at the Jersey Shore, and loved life as a boater, taking trips up the Hudson, into New England and down to the Chesapeake.
Pat is survived by his wife Mary (Mulhare) Marinaro, his two sons, Franco Marinaro, and his wife Tuyet, Anthony Marinaro and his wife Erica, his twin granddaughters, his Sister Lucille Santinelli and husband Nick Santinelli and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Peter Marinaro..
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6, from 2-6 PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Livingston. Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, October 7 at 10AM at St. Philomena's Church, 386 S. Livingston Avenue, Livingston, with entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memory of Pasquale Marinaro to the Gary Sinise Foundation (https://www.garysinisefoundation.org/) or Tunnel to Towers (https://t2t.org/) who focus Veterans and First Responders.
