Leonard P. Sherman, son of the late William and Anna Baum Sherman, left us on June 1, 2015 at the age of 87. A longtime resident of Livingston and then Florham Park, Len was born September 10, 1927 in New York City. He moved to the New Jersey shore area as a young teenager, where his family went into the egg farming business. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as an occupation soldier in post-WW2 Germany. His training in the Signal Corps as a photographer sparked a lifelong hobby. In addition to shooting landscapes, he especially enjoyed taking pictures of his grandchildren on stage or on the playing fields. He had a keen eye and produced numerous award-winning photographs. Len also loved sailing on Long Island Sound, enjoying family weekends on “Sail la Vie.” He worked in the insurance industry for over 60 years. Until recently, he was still driving to work every day. Len provided an amazing example of how to live a life full of love, happiness, family, and friends. He will be remembered by all who knew him, especially for his stories and his razor sharp memory. He was interested in everyone and everything. Len is survived by Janice Roth Sherman, his loving wife of 65 years; his devoted children, Robert Sherman (Carolyn) and Debra Sherman Parker (Geoffrey); and his five grandchildren, David, Steven (Emily), and Michael Sherman, and Benjamin and Elizabeth Parker. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Blum. He will be deeply missed. Arrangements are being made by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the American Lung Association.
