Born to Samuel and Claire Schultz, Jerry grew up in Newark, NJ, where he was the valedictorian of his graduating class at Weequahic High School. He went on to graduate from Cornell University, Harvard Law School, and the NYU Tax Institute.
After working briefly as an attorney, he spent his career working in the family business, H. Schultz & Sons, with his father and cousins and then later with his daughter Dana. He was a personable, astute businessman who was excellent at making deals that helped the business to thrive throughout the years.
Jerry contributed to many organizations throughout his lifetime and held leadership positions when he could really make a beneficial impact. He loved to play golf, to watch his favorite professional sports teams on TV, and to play with the family dog.
Most of all, Jerry loved and supported his family. He is survived by his cherished wife of sixty years, Linda, their three children Dana Ruderman, Stacey Schultz, and Ken Schultz, and their six grandchildren Alex, Stephanie, Sage, Sascha, Kaya, and Jaiden.
Jerry was a longtime Type 1 diabetic and thanks to his incredible determination and commitment to have a long and healthy life, he lived beyond anyone’s expectations. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
