Giuseppe Lembo

Beloved husband of Antonietta (nee Caruso) Lembo. Devoted father of Sigismondo Lembo, his wife Anna; Mary Grace Sarni, her husband John. Cherished Nonno of Dana, Joseph, Tommy, Joseph, John Luke and Isabella. Loving brother of Maria and Sigismondo. Giuseppe is predeceased by his brother Pietro and sisters Philomena and Linda.

At a very young age, Giuseppe was tasked with maintaining the family farm and later became a proud member of the Italian Military. In July of 1961, Giuseppe moved to America, a journey taken very quickly after seeing the photograph of his soon-to-be wife Antonietta, who he learned had emigrated to the country. They married in March of 1962 and had two children, Sigismondo and Mary Grace. In 1969, he began a very successful construction and real estate business which continues to be a legacy for his family.

Giuseppe was a pillar in the Italian-American community. He is not only known for his hard work ethic, but also his selfless dedication to his family and friends. He cherished his time watching soccer, playing Scopa, hunting with friends and was a key member of the Alberona Social Club.

Upon retiring, Giuseppe returned to his roots, dedicating his time to his garden. Although known for growing all types of fruits and vegetables (tomatoes, figs, persimmons, cucumbers, lettuce, arugula), none were as memorable as the giant zucchinis and pumpkins produced for his family. For Giuseppe, the garden not only provided a way for him to give back to all friends and family but most importantly produced the ingredients for his favorite restaurant - his home.

Giuseppe was blessed with a loving family but the most treasured family member was his wife of 60 years Antonietta. Together they persevered as immigrants, became citizens raised 2 children and were blessed with 6 grandchildren who made him very proud.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Seton Hall Prep in memory of Giuseppe “Joe” Lembo.
