William R. Wrape, II “Bill” died November 21, 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by family. Born November 11, 1925, in Little Rock, he attended St. Andrew’s Elementary School and Catholic High School for Boys (Class of 1942). He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BSME in 1945. As a member of the Naval ROTC Program, after graduation he was sent to the Pacific to serve on the USS North Carolina. After his service to the United State Navy, he returned to Little Rock where he worked in the Family Business, W.R. Wrape Stave Mill until his country called upon him again to serve in the Korean Conflict on the USS Iowa and the USS New Jersey where he obtained the rank of Lieutenant Commander. After his service he again returned to Little Rock to work in the Family Business. On February 14, 1953, he married the Love of his Life, Betty Jo Christian (who preceded him in death in 2015) and together they adopted four children. He was a Charter Member of the Little Rock Serra Club, a life-time member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church and a Deacon, Ordained in 1993, a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher and a member of the Knights of Columbus Arkansas State Council for 70 Plus years.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Azile H. and Aloysius J. Wrape, his brothers, Aloysius J. Wrape, Jr. Jarrell Vincent Wrape, his sister, Patricia Wrape Nenon. Also, by his son, David D. Wrape, son-in-law, G. Bradley Harrison and grandson, Gregory W. Wrape.
He is survived by his children, Genny Wrape Harrison, William R. Wrape, III (Carol) and Mark Christian Wrape; his grandchildren, Sarah Christian Harrison, William O’Connor Wrape, Mary Josephine Wrape, Sabrina Marie Wrape and Christian Lee Wrape (Megan Kolenda); his sister Ann Wrape James (David), his sister-in-law Sue Keith Wrape (Jarrell) and his many nieces and nephews. His first Great Grandchild to be born in February 2025.
A Rosary will be held at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home 5800 W. 12th Street Little Rock, AR 72204 on Monday November 25, 2024 from 5:00 – to 7:00PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church 6315 Baseline Road Little Rock, AR 72209 on Tuesday November 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM with the Burial to follow at 3:00 PM at Forest Hills Cemetery 10200 AR-5, Alexander, AR 72002. Donations may be made to the charity of your choosing.
The family wished to express thanks and gratitude to all of the people who cared so much for him in his final days.
