He was born to Herschell and Mabel Taylor in Rocky Mound, Columbia County, Arkansas on June 16, 1927.
He is predeceased by his wife, Wanda Lee Taylor and his parents and brother, Donald. He is survived by his daughter, Diane Taylor Carroll, of Little Rock and his son, Anthony (Michelle) Taylor, of Hot Springs. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lori Switzer, Kristin Binz, Alex Carroll and Robert (Carly) Taylor. His great grandchildren include Stephen and Carson Bredensteiner, Josie, Ella and Bryleigh Switzer and great-great grandson, Malakai Bredensteiner. He is also survived by his godson, Jim (Jennifer) Elliott and his sister, Betty Miller, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A World War II veteran, he served in the Navy. Upon returning from the Pacific, he met and married Wanda Davis of Fouke. He began a career in administration, working with school districts and the state department of education as well as at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he retired twice.
Olen was dedicated to family. He loved and cared for all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 59 years. He was a member of the Triune Sunday School Class that he taught for many years, and a certified chaplain.
One of his greatest joys was family having gathered together visiting and eating Wanda’s cooking. He was a kind man who will be missed by many.

Celebration of life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church 2:00 p.m., November 14, 2024. Visitation will be the evening prior, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday November 15, 2024, at the Harmony Methodist Cemetery in Rocky Mound, Arkansas.
