It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Clifford Daniel Jones, Jr. of Little Rock, Arkansas. Dad took the step towards his next journey at home in his living room surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audie Lee Dunlap Jones, his parents, Clifford Daniel Jones, Sr. and Clara Lee Jefferson Jones, cherished granddaughter, Carson Lee McLean, and brother, Alton Warren Jones, Sr.
Cliff was born on February 7, 1935 near Sparks, Georgia. He spent his childhood in the rural country surrounded by his Jefferson and Jones family. Cliff shared the memories of his childhood with his children and grandchildren throughout his life. These rich experiences of love, family, hard work, literature, and perseverance not only shaped his life but the lives of his children and grandchildren. Cliff attended elementary school in south Georgia. He moved to St. Augustine, Florida with his mother and younger brothers before starting high school. Cliff continued to spend time with his father in Georgia and continued to have close ties with his Georgia family which nurtured him throughout his life. After high school, Cliff attended college at the University of Florida, Gainesville; he forged this path to higher education through hard work and well-earned scholarships. Cliff was a lifelong Gator.
After college, Cliff served in the United States Army. While serving in the army, he lived in Monterey, California. After his service, Cliff took a job with the US Department of Agriculture which took him to Alexandria, Louisiana where he met Audie, his wife of 48 years. They built a life together around family, travel, and adventure before her passing in 2010. Cliff’s job took his growing family to Alexandria, Virginia and then to Little Rock, Arkansas where he has lived since 1967.
Cliff held his family close to his heart until his last breath. He embraced the roles of father, grandfather, husband, son, brother, nephew, and uncle during all seasons of his life.
Survivors include his four children, Kimberly Jones (Mike) of Napa, California, Lisa Jones Park (Dave), of Missoula, Montana, Wanda Jones of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and Leeland Jones (Phim) of Oak Grove, Kentucky, granddaughter Lundy Park of Brooklyn, New York, and grandson Leslie Daniel Jones Park of Missoula, Montana, brother Barry Jones (Judy) of Palatka, Florida, and brother Bob Jones (Joanne) of Jacksonville, Florida, life-long friend and chosen brother, Floyd O’Quinn (Traudi) of Alexandria, Virgina, as well as his beloved nieces and nephews. Cliff was also blessed with incredible neighbors who became like family to him over the years. Cliff’s Vick, Louisiana family enriched his life from the moment he met Audie.
