Welton Steve Smith

Welton Steve Smith, age 64, of Little River, South Carolina went to be with his Lord Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Born on January 13, 1960 in Mullins, South Carolina he was the son of Welton D. Smith and Annie P. Lewis.

Steve was a true man of God, and a devoted husband, father, grandpa, friend and brother. Who cherished every moment he spent with his grandchildren Sport and Sydney Grace. Steve enjoyed sharing old stories, cooking for others, planning the next trip to the mountains and quoting his favorite movie “The Outlaw Josey Wales” and TV show “Andy Griffith”. You could typically find him “chewing the fat” with friends out in the swamp watching the wildlife. Above all he was beyond proud of his children, and held a very special place in his heart for his daughter-in-law and son-in-law.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years Theresa Smith; son, Joshua Smith (Danielle); daughter, Karmen Custer (Justin); grandchildren Brooks Parker Smith and Sydney Grace Custer; sister, Susan S. Stephens (Jesse); niece and nephew Brandon & Jessica Stephens; brother in law Lee Carlisle (Dee)

In addition Steve was a Member and Past Master of Grand Strand Masonic Lodge #392 and was also a member of Shallotte Masonic Lodge #727. He was a member of Sudan Shriners and a Charter Member of the South Brunswick Islands Shrine Club in Shallotte, NC.

"May the blessings of heaven rest upon us. May brotherly love prevail and every moral and social virtue cement us."

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Wampee Baptist Church, 9530 SC-90 Longs, SC 29568. Masonic Rites will be accorded by Grand Strand Masonic Lodge on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory 11840 Hwy 90 Little River, SC 29566.
