Steven J. Novak, Sr., age 82, of Longs, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. Born on September 22, 1941 in New York City, he was a son of the late Anthony and Voila Novak.
He is survived by his son, Steven J. Novak, Jr. (Maria), adopted sons, Hasan Morales and Kyle Thompson, along with his beloved granddaughter, Makayla Novak. He was preceded in death by his parents along with his loving wife, Linda Novak and all ten of his siblings.
A member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and a Knights of Columbus, Steven was a strong man of faith. He simply enjoyed life. Steven enjoyed making new friends, whistling, sharing a joke and just bringing a smile to others faces. He was also an exercise fanatic who loved boxing and staying active. He was known to have a piece of candy or gum in his pocket at all times, always ready to share with someone.
A veteran of the United States Army, Steven loved his country. For most of his work life, he specialized in plumbing and electrical jobs. He was quite the handy man. In his later years, he began a career in security. Steven was also a major sponsor for several who struggled with drug and alcohol abuse.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1100 8th Ave N., North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 29582. Lee Funeral Home and Crematory of Little River is serving the family.
