Samuel “David” Carter, 76, of North Myrtle Beach, formerly of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 with his family by his side at McLeod Seacoast Hospital. Born on July 25, 1946, in Charlotte, NC, David was the youngest child and only son of the late Paul D. and Cora Clayton Carter.
A graduate of Garringer High School in Charlotte, NC, David received his Bachelors of Science in Business from Western Carolina University where he was a member of the TKE Fraternity. On November 30, 1968, he married the love of his life, Daphne Aldridge. They shared the love of the ocean and eventually purchased a second home in North Myrtle Beach. Following his retirement after 40 years of sales, they made North Myrtle Beach their permanent home, where David could regularly enjoy golfing, sitting by the ocean, enjoying beach music and shagging.
David and Daphne were members of First Baptist Church - North Myrtle Beach. David was a long time member of the choir as well as the singing group “One Accord”. He was a deacon, a teacher in the Kindred Spirits Sunday School Class, and active in various areas of the church. David was looking forward to the building of the new sanctuary.
His greatest loves were his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren. His four-legged feline companion, Blue was always by his side.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 54 years Daphne, is his son Heath Carter and wife, Crystal, their children, Mason, Dylan and Allison “Ali” Carter; his daughter, Heather Carter Lankford and husband, Jim, their children, Maddie and Sydney Lankford; sisters, Mitzi Carter Harrill, Gail Carter Nichols; sister-in-law, Candace Rice; a special first cousin, Mary Brady; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at First Baptist Church - North Myrtle Beach. Lee Funeral Home and Crematory, is assisting the family.
The family welcomes flowers however, for those who wish to make a donation; they are requested to First Baptist Church - North Myrtle Beach, Building Fund.
