Louis Edward Graney, Jr, 84, passed away at his home in Little River, SC on June 2, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Graney of the home, and his son Richard Graney of Unadilla, NY; a granddaughter Chloe, of Conway, SC, two great granddaughters, Taylyn and Maisley, two daughters-in-law, Tracy Graney and Michele Davies. Louis is also survived by his three sisters, Diane Holbert, Elizabeth (Janie) Andrews, Cheryl Haynes; two brothers: Donald Graney and Richard Graney, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Christopher Graney of Conway, SC.
Louis was born in Sidney, NY. He excelled in school, being elected as President of the Student Council, and receiving other honors. He was active in sports, playing on the undefeated football team and was on the wrestling team. Following high school, Louis joined the US Marine Corps where he spent three years before his honorable discharge. He worked as a design engineer for the local aerospace facility in Sidney, and a similar facility in Norwich, NY.
After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Little River, SC where they have resided since 1998. He enjoyed golf, running, cooking, going to the gym, and keeping meticulous records, always noting that he was a “numbers guy”. He enjoyed his family and his many friends.
In lieu of flowers, we request good memories. Otherwise, donations can be made in Louis’ memory to the Alzheimer's’ foundation.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Saturday, June 15 from 10:30 to 1:00 PM at the clubhouse in the Royal Estates development in Little River, SC.
