Born in Hackensack, NJ, he was a son of the late Frederick Gerard and Una McLeod Hoffmann.
A graduate of Seton Hall University, class of ’71, Ken taught English at Manchester Regional High School in NJ before getting his Master’s in Graphic Arts at Clemson University, SC. He taught in Orangeburg, SC at COVEC for 3 years. Ken and his wife Tricia moved to Pittsburgh, PA where their three children were born. Ken taught Graphic Arts at Linton High School. In 1982, the family moved to Rochester, NY and he began teaching at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology. Ken became Chairperson of the Digital Printing and Technology Department.
Retiring as Professor Emeritus in 2015, Ken and Tricia moved to Little River, SC where Ken played much golf, shoveled no snow and enjoyed the beach.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Tricia; sons Matthew (Meaghan) Hoffmann; Gary (Crystal) Hoffmann; grandchildren Raina, Jeana, Icarus, and Ada; his sister Elaine Middelstaedt (Ed Dalzell); Janet Hoffmann; and sister-in-law Doris Hoffmann; a niece, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews; and many friends. His son, Benjamin Hoffmann and brother Howard Joseph Hoffmann predeceased him.
A Funeral mass is scheduled at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1100 8th Ave. N, North Myrtle Beach, SC at 1pm on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
