Judy Edwards Hester, 84, of North Myrtle Beach, SC went home to be with Jesus on March 2, 2022 after an extended illness. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 6th, at Lakeside Baptist Church in North Myrtle Beach.
Judy was born on July 27, 1937 in Bladenboro, NC and graduated from Bladenboro High School in 1955. She married Henry “Dick” Hester on February 19, 1955. Dick and Judy moved to North Myrtle Beach in January of 1956.
Judy was a charter member of the Driftwood Garden Club. As an active member for over 50 years, she served as club President 3 times. She also served as Coastal District Director, South Atlantic Region Board Member and Board of Directors of the Garden Club of South Carolina. She made life-long friends and loved travelling the state to meet other club members.
She became a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in 1956. She enjoyed serving in various ways, especially as part of the beautification committee.
Judy was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dick, their three children: Hank (Lynne) Hester of Little River, SC, Ann Collins of Savannah, GA and Frank (Tara) Hester of Lexington, SC; 6 grandchildren: Sydney (Brookes) Versaggi, Ashley Cooper, Hannah (Ryan) Lee, Andrew (Lauren) Collins, Cole (Stevi) Logue and Janie Logue; 4 great-grandchildren: Beckett, Bo, Lake and Rivers and her brother James Edwards. She will be missed by a host of other family members and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents Neil and Hilda Edwards, brother John Edwards and son-in-law, Steve Collins.
The family will greet friends at the front entrance of the church following the service. The burial will take place at a later date at Florence National Cemetery.
