Jeffery Byrnes Chestnut, 63 entered life eternal on Monday, April 22, 2024 at home after a short battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Eleanore Z. Chestnut Barlow and James B. Chestnut. Jeff graduated in 1978 from Marion High School, and attended Newberry College on a baseball scholarship where he graduated in 1982. He later earned his master’s in religion from Liberty University Seminary. After graduating he moved to Myrtle Beach, SC where he was employed by The Conway National Bank for 19 years and served as a Vice President. Jeff met Cyndi his wife of 39 years at the bank. They were married in 1985 and welcomed three children. Upon retiring from The Conway National Bank, he led his family and served overseas in international missions for 15 years from 2000 to 2015 in the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa where he shared the gospel of Jesus Christ. In 2016 he and his family moved back to Myrtle Beach where he continued serving in the local church as an elder at Lakeside Baptist Church. He deeply loved God, his family and the local church. He endeavored to encourage all of them to love and follow Jesus and to love and serve others. Survivors include his wife, Cyndi Moeller Chestnut and his children, Rachel Chestnut Duran (Jabez), Andrew Clayton Chestnut, Jessica Brooke Chestnut Whitesell (Austin), three grandchildren Waverly Jo, Wriley Rae, and a grandson yet to be named, his sister Kim Chestnut Poston (Ricky), his brother Troy Wayne Chestnut (Melissa), and many loving nieces and nephews. He was a long-standing member of the Wahee Gun Club where he loved hunting and the outdoors.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. with a reception immediately following in the fellowship hall where the family will receive visitation at Lakeside Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Lakeside Baptist Church Mission Fund, 611 11th Ave. North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582.
