James C. O'Callaghan II, age 70, of Little River, South Carolina passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, December 24, 2022. Born in Brooklyn, NY on October 14, 1952 he was the son of the late James C. O’Callaghan and Gloria Broderick O’Callaghan.
Born and raised in New York, James recently relocated from Levittown on Long Island to Little River to be with his beloved family. James had a passion for music and he was an avid New York Yankees and St. John’s fan. With a great deal of pride in his heritage, James was proud of all the Irish blood that was in him. In his earlier years, he attended high school at Holy Cross High in Queens, New York. During these years, James met his high school sweetheart and future wife, Kathleen. After high school, he attended college at St. John’s University.
Known as the “Leader of the Band,” James instilled in his family the importance of love, loyalty and what it means to truly put family first. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend. James’s grandchildren were genuinely his pride and joy.
Survivors include his four children, Kellie-Ann O’Callaghan, James O’Callaghan III (Christy), Shaun O’Callaghan (Esra), Timothy O’Callaghan; grandchildren, Keltan, Caelin, Kessel, Madison, Jameson, James IV, Caroline; siblings, Moe, Jerry and Mary Pat. James was preceded in death by his sister Kassie, both his parents and his loving wife of 44 years, Kathleen O’Callaghan.
In lieu of flowers, the O’Callaghan Family suggests a donation to ProMedica Hospice Memorial Fund in memory of James.
