Frederick Anthony Leo Lennon Jr., age 90, of Little River, South Carolina passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on April 23, 1932, he was the son of the late Frederick Lennon, Sr. and Blanche Denis Lennon.
Fred lived in Ellington, Connecticut where he and Margaret raised their family. As an educator he worked in the Manchester public school system and you would often find him in the gym, on a field, or watching competitive reel-to-reel films. He impacted numerous lives and was recently inducted into the Manchester Sports Hall of Fame. His gift was the ability to recognize students at their level and develop their skills. Whether you were a student, a player or one of his own children, he was tough because he knew you had greatness before you knew. He would remind everyone to always have pride in yourself, respect your family, and present with confidence.
After years of mastering the fairways of Manchester Country Club, Fred retired in 1989 to Myrtle Beach where he played golf for nearly 30 years as a member of Possum Trot Golf Club.
As the patriarch to the Lennon Clan, building a family with Margaret was his greatest pride and joy. He is survived by Margaret Alice Galligan Lennon, his loving wife of 64 years; their children, Robert Mark Lennon (Elena Finizio) of Wilmington, Delaware; Joanne Tedford (Robert, dec.) of Manchester, Connecticut, Jennifer Caldarella (Robert) of Branford, Connecticut, Deborah Lennon (Robert Mandirola) of Exton, Pennsylvania. His grandchildren Justin, Kate (Mitch Pawlowski), Kristian, Shane, Olivia, Michael, Kyle, Sean along with his great-grandchildren, Arden and Cecilia.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach on Thursday, November 3, 2022.
