Cindy passed away on Tuesday morning, January 23, 2024 at home with her son by her side. Born in Newport News, VA, she was a daughter of the late David W. Weaver and Avis Kispert Thomas.
She began her career began at New England Telephone in 1966 as a “cord-board” operator and in 1977, she became the mother of her son, Bo Stevenson. For 30 years, Cindy continued advancing in her career in the telecom customer service industry before going out on a limb and purchasing a Pepperidge Farm delivery route. She quickly became the “cookie and goldfish lady” in four towns in Massachusetts.
Eventually, she sold her Pepperidge Farm franchise and she re-joined the phone company until she took an early retirement package in 1999. It was then that Cindy Stevenson began living her best life! She moved to North Myrtle Beach and bought a condo on the intracoastal waterway. Friendships began instantly and it didn’t take long before she was given the title of the ‘Unofficial Mayor’ of the Carolina Keys Condominiums. Cindy hung a sign in her kitchen that read, “Any woman looking for a husband never had one.” But she still had a ton of love in her heart to give and soon met her partner John Tyler. Cindy and John had a prescription for the happiness and success of their relationship: live close and visit often. And for 19 years you could find them by each other’s side, in increments, but always smiling.
Cindy felt so blessed by her condo on the waterway where there was “never a dull moment,” as the many boats and ships traveled past her window every day, she would always delight her Facebook friends with pictures of the waterway comings and goings. In 2018, she had an idea for an Instagram account where she would share the beautiful sunsets from her view of the Intracoastal Waterway. She currently has over 800 photos on her page @waterway_sunsets where they bring joy to people all over the world.
When not being a wonderful mother, and partner, and Instagram Influencer, Cindy found great pleasure in being with her friends. She was a “Words with Friends” enthusiast and enjoyed BUNCO. Cindy had a green thumb and enjoyed effortlessly growing plants.
In addition to her son, Bo Stevenson, Cindy is survived by her partner of 19 years, John Tyler; daughter in love, Erin Stevenson; grandchildren, Elloree and Merritt Stevenson; sisters, Gail Weaver Robertson, Susan Weaver Erickson; and brothers, David and Jordan Weaver and all her nieces; nephews and their children. Also surviving are longtime friends, Jack and Rhonda Romani as well as her rock, Kathleen McAndrews.
