Carol B. Elliott

Carol Buckwell Elliott of Little River SC passed away peacefully on November 10, 2023 at the age of 93. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Vester Lee and Addie Pauline Buckwell of Concord, NC, her husband Paul Edward Elliott Jr. and her brother John William Buckwell of Charlotte, NC.

Carol is survived by her five children, Pat Elliott Onderdonk (Dave ) of Loris, SC, David Elliott (Bonny) of Warrenton, VA, James Elliott (Linda) of Spanish Fork, UT, John Elliott (Cathy) of Kennesaw, GA, and Steven Elliott (Sheila) of Nokesville, VA, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Isla Jean Buckwell, niece Paula Hilton and her family.

Carol was born on October 25, 1930, in Concord, NC, where she graduated from Concord High School. She attended Business School in Greensboro, NC, and later went to work at Blue Bell Company in Greensboro, NC, where she met the love of her life Paul Elliott. They were married on October 11, 1952, honeymooned in Myrtle Beach and began their 64 year adventure together.

Carol’s husband’s career led them to live in a number of places: PA, NJ, and VA, and finally settling in the Little River area in 1996. Carol was a homemaker for most of her life raising 5 children and taking care of their home. She was a gifted gardener and loved being outside in the garden or doing landscaping at her home. Her roses and flowers were always beautiful, having the largest magnolia tree in her neighborhood. She was a fantastic cook and always had wonderful food on the table for her family. The neighborhood kids remember Mrs. Carol for her fried chicken and iced tea.

She and her good friend Elinor Mantone were the original American Pickers at garage and yard sales.

Carol enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, with a weekly card game in her neighborhood with some of her friends, which she really looked forward.

Once she and her husband Paul moved to the Myrtle Beach area, they enjoyed walking on the beach and she was a great shell collector. Carol enjoyed crafts, doing decorations for the holidays and making wreaths.

In her later years she and Paul took numerous cruises and that was something they both really enjoyed.

Carol loved her husband Paul and her kids, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were a real source of joy and happiness in her life. Carol was known for her wit and was truly loved by all who came in contact with her, whether they were family, friends, or even servers at the various restaurants that she frequented.

She will be missed by all, but we are comforted by the fact that she is with the Savior now.

As Carol was a faithful contributor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, her family has requested a donation in Carol’s name be made in lieu of flowers.

A Celebration of Carol’s life (reunion) will be held at some point next year for family and friends, time to be determined.
