Benton Woodrow Stiltner, known to everyone as Woody, was born November 27, 1937 in Grundy, VA. He was the son of Earl Stiltner and Grace Foster.
Woody was a loving father, husband, and friend. He was a family man whose life revolved around his wife and his family. Woody enjoyed golfing, traveling and officiating golf tournaments for the USGA.
Woody enlisted in the Navy in 1954 and served on the U.S.S. Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier for 10 years, upon leaving active duty he continued his military career in the National Guard for an additional 20 years. He graduated from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Delaware in 1976. He was the co-owner of Garwood Carpets in Wilmington. He and Phyllis retired and moved to the golf mecca, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2001.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Phyllis Prucino Stiltner; children, Anne Brown (James) and Becky Clough (Dan); grandchildren, Nicholas Johnson (Masha), Michelle Ali (Keith), Chelsea Colliss (Simon), Cameron Brown (Heather) and Julianna Stiltner; great grandchildren; Alex, Tristan, Lily, Leo, Emilia Rose, Delilah and Millie Mae. He was also very close to Phyllis’s younger sister, Sharon Johnson (Greg) and their children, Lauren (Will), Megan and Zachary and Lauren’s children, Sterling, Liam and Jackson. Woody was preceded in death by his parents along with his son, Benton Woodrow Stiltner II.
A Memorial Service with Honor Guard will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Lee Funeral Home & Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach.
