Theresa H. Blake, nee Hansel, was born in Chicago August 23, 1926 the daughter of the late William and Mary Hansel, nee Gazda, and passed away peacefully on March 11, 2012 at her home in Westmont where she lived for 30 years. At the age of four, Theresa’s mother died and she lived in Detroit with her uncle, aunt and four cousins. There she attended St. Hedwig Catholic School for ten years. As an adult, she worked as an operator for Illinois Bell Telephone Co., then as a managers assistant for the Chicago Stock Exchange, then ended her 40 year work career with Charles Spencer Co. in the insurance underwriting business. During her career, Theresa saw Central Europe, the Philippines, Japan and Mexico.
In 1946, Theresa began a marriage with James Blake that lasted until his death in 1982. She as the devoted mother of William and Patricia; loving grandmother of Amenda and the late Nicole; cherished great grandmother of 6; aunt, cousin and friend of many who thought she was a wonderful person.
Theresa enjoyed fishing, boating, bowling and gardening. She was a devoted Catholic and member of the Moose lodge. Theresa acknowledged that she had lived a full and enjoyable life and was happy her children turned out well.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 3-8 pm at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 5015 Lincoln Ave., Lisle (on Rt 53, ½ mile south of Ogden Ave. / Rt. 34) where funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 10:00 am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, IL.
