Julie A. Gosselin, nee Pellegrini, age 61, of Glen Ellyn lost her battle to cancer on Friday, June 2nd, 2023. She was born on December 3, 1961, in Joliet, Illinois, to Richard and Sharon (Terlep) Pellegrini. Julie married James “Jim” Gosselin on April 1,1989. They have two daughters, Annie (25) and Ellie (21). Surviving are her husband, Jim Gosselin of Glen Ellyn; daughter, Annie Gosselin; daughter, Ellie Gosselin; sister, Debbie (Kelly) Gallardo; brother, Mark (Sue) Pellegrini; sister, Victoria (Juan) Ortiz; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Julie was preceded in death by both her parents.
Julie graduated from St. Francis High School (now Joliet Catholic) in 1980. She loved her friends, being outdoors, running, and above all else, her family. Julie was truly an incredible mother to her girls. She reminded her family, especially her girls, multiple times a day how much she loved them. She had a patient, compassionate, fun, and loving soul. Julie was never quick to judge and accepted everyone she met with open arms. She loved life and making others smile. She truly lit up any room she entered and made a positive impact on so many lives.
Julie battled a Grade 4 Glioblastoma for exactly 13 months and 1 day before the Lord decided to call her home. Despite a 10 hour brain surgery, numerous rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and Optune treatments, Julie refused to let this disease slow her down. From the day of her diagnosis (May 1, 2022) until she was no longer able, she made it a personal goal to run/walk at least 10 miles per day. Julie believed that the beauty of nature and the outdoors were healing. Although her physical body is no longer present, it is evident that you can feel Julie’s optimistic and radiating spirit wherever you go.
A private celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 17th, 2023 at the Morton Arboretum. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please donate to the BrainUp Foundation. BrainUp is an non-profit organization dedicated to bringing awareness to brain cancer – a disease that doesn’t get the attention it deserves.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Blake-LambFuneralHome.com for the Gosselin family.
