John is the son of Alonzo and Emma Nadeau Albert. He was the fifth of nine children. He lived in Lisbon Falls from the age of 7. He was a hard worker from an early age, delivering newspapers for many years for the Lewiston Sun Journal, doing yard work for neighbors year round, and working for a local supermarket part and full time while attending through high school and beyond.
John graduated from Lisbon High School in the class of 1958. He was drafted into the Army in 1962 and spent much of his military service at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. Upon returning to Maine, he worked at RCA and Hall and Knight which later became Redlon and Johnson all in Lewiston until retirement. John had a talent for repairing small engines and yard equipment and loved helping for friends and family in that manner.
John was a communicant and a devout member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus most of his adult life and held several high-ranking positions including being a member of the Fourth Degree Knights.
For recreation, John loved being outdoors and enjoyed riding on his motorcycle on local roads in Maine. He also took several longer trips visiting relatives in upstate New York. He did snowmobiling and ATV outings with family and friends. He especially enjoyed camping trips with his nephew Robert Blais, Jr where they explored Maine’s beautiful North Woods on 4-wheelers. He also was an avid cribbage player and played several times a week with his close friends.
John was such a kind person and a special member of his family He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. He helped any family member or neighbor who needed some assistance. John was a lifelong bachelor.
John is predeceased by his parents and sisters Joanna Albert Glidden and husband Allen, Claudette Albert Blais and husband Robert Sr., Georgette Albert Smets and husband Wayne, Carol Albert Whitman and husband Herbert, and brother-in-law Larry Clark as well as his nephew Glen.
He is survived by brothers Robert Albert and wife Sharon of Yucaipa, CA, Richard Albert and wife Deb of Bridgton, and Roland Albert (Ronny) and wife Merilyn of San Dimas, CA, and sister Diane Albert Clark of Durham. Also surviving John are several nieces and nephews: Robert Jr., Kenneth, Joyce, Leian, Collette, Colleen, Robbie, David, Brian, Leigh Ann, Cari, Ryan, Steven, Tammy, Craig, Wayne Jr, (Chummy), and Jonica.
John Henry Albert, 83 of Lisbon Falls, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2024 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. John was born in Barre, VT on September 27, 1940.
