Julia D. Putz

Born on October 29th, 1938 in Sagua La Grande, Cuba; Julia was the beloved sister of Margarita, Ana and Rafelin; aunt to AnaMaria, Manolin and Elizabeth; and great-aunt to Briana and Orestes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julieta and Andres; her brother, Andres; and her sister Maria-Dolores.

Julia attended the Catholic University of Villanova studying Chemical Engineering in Havana, Cuba for two years. In 1962, her studies were interrupted as she was exiled, leaving Havana to the United States in the last PanAm flight with her sister Margarita. Despite moving to a new and unfamiliar country, she quickly adapted by becoming an assistant to a best selling author in California. She later moved to New Jersey where she continued her studies at night while working for Prudential for 35 years and eventually obtained two Master’s Degrees. After two years of her retirement at Prudential, she was called back for her knowledge and experience.

In 1983, Julia was diagnosed with cancer. This diagnosis never stopped Julia from being herself and from doing the things she wanted to do. She always retained her strong demeanor balanced with her positive but humble attitude and was strengthened by her faith. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to others whether it be at work, to her family, friends or neighbors. She enjoyed the simple things in life from spending time with her family members during the holidays, going out to dinner with her sister, or spending her time reading a book in the library.
