It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cecylia Zajac. In the comfort of her home, surrounded by her beloved husband and children, Cecylia was called to heaven on July 4, 2024. Her family thanks everyone for all of the prayers and support during her long and hard fought battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Born on July 6, 1950, in Poland, Cecylia grew up in Straszydle before coming to Elizabeth, NJ, in December 1963 with her parents Walter and Maria (predeceased), sister Anna (Ted) Sadej, and brother Stanley. She was a resident of Cranford, NJ for 47 years. She was survived by her husband, Matthew Zajac, and her three children, Joseph, Johnny (Jennifer), and James.
Cecylia had a long career at Merck, working in Food Service. Her family and faith were paramount to her, and she cherished every moment spent together. Holidays, birthdays, and sacraments were always celebrated with both immediate and extended family. Cecylia never missed a single event, even until the very end, because these gatherings brought her immense joy and fulfillment.
Cecylia had many passions. Her homemade dishes were always the highlight of family gatherings. She loved seasonal activities like blueberry and apple picking with her family. Her vegetable garden provided fresh produce every year, and she tended to her beautiful front garden, which was filled with lush, colorful plants. During the summer, Cecylia enjoyed frequenting the beach and taking family trips to Disney. Despite her busy life, she also found time to sew and tailor, another passion of hers. Cecylia was a woman of deep faith and a cornerstone of St. Adalbert’s Church in Elizabeth, NJ. She supported the church by attending weekly services until she no longer could.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Adalbert’s Church, 250 East Jersey Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07206, (908)-352-2791, in memory of Cecylia Zajac.
Rest in peace, beloved mother. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.
