It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Schultz. Steve passed away at his home on Monday, September 30, 2024. Steve was a kind-hearted soul known for his love of family, his loyal dogs, and his many passions.
Born on February 25, 1965, Steve was adopted by his forever family (mom, dad and four sisters) and taken home to Crete, NE, where he developed a love for wrestling and football during high school years. His competitive spirit on the mat was matched by his dedication and sportsmanship, traits that carried through his life.
A skilled and avid shop mechanic, Steve found great joy in working with his hands. Whether it was fixing up cars or helping friends with projects, his mechanical know-how was both a passion and a gift he shared with others. This passion was also reflected through his career with the State of Nebraska, where he was employed for over 30 years.
Outside of the shop, Steve was a proud member of his local pool league. His sharp eye and steady hand made him a formidable player, but it was the camaraderie, and friendships formed through the league that meant the most to him.
At home, Steve found great comfort in the company of his beloved dogs, Jazz and then Sam, who were always by his side. They were his constant companions and a source of joy and laughter in his life.
In addition to his love of animals and sports, Steve was a dedicated beekeeper. He tended to his hives with care. His honey was shared with family and friends, a sweet reflection of the kindness he brought to all who knew him.
Steve greatly enjoyed spending time with his many great nieces and nephews. He would take them fishing at his pond, have them assist with harvesting honey, and always provide small, gestured gifts to fit each of their unique set of interests!
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Rollo Schultz, brother Michael, and sister Vanessa. Steve is survived by his mother, Verna Schultz, four sisters: Pat Ohmberger (Jim), Lincoln, NE, Becky Haufle (Mike), Lincoln, NE, Sandy Karl (Doug), Crete, NE, Tammie George (Herb), Leavenworth, KS; many nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.
A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 4-6pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512.
