Sharon Elaine (Boyd) Hile, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska to James and Elsie (Philburn) Boyd.
She graduated from Lincoln High, attended the University of Nebraska, and married her high school sweetheart, Ron Hile in Lincoln. Sharon and Ron were married at First Christian Church and celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last May.
Sharon enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom for many of her years raising their children. She loved big family meals, family trips, special outings, and getaways with Ron, the love of her life and best friend.
Sharon was an active member of the Disciples of Christ Crestwood Christian Church for over 60 years where she was a natural teacher and taught many years of Sunday School. She also led and participated in many church groups and activities including prayer, nature, spiritual direction and bible studies. Her creative spirit came through in her poetry and quilting which were given as gifts to family and friends.
Sharon spent many hours volunteering that include Matt Talbot Kitchen and sewing handbags for Congolese women in Africa who later replicated them for production to achieve their living sustainability which continues today. Sharon was a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and loved researching and writing about her ancestors.
She is survived by her four children: Dan (Deb), Jim (Denise), Todd (Kim) and Shari (Tom) McCright. Grandchildren: Katie Patrick (Ryan), Makayla Venzor (Tom), Father Caleb Hile, Leah, Landan, Brandon (Chelsea), Garrett (Kaitlin), Connor (Alyssa) Ghiles, Stepanie Opfer (Nathan), Jacob (Rachel), Joe (Hannah) McCright, Callie McCright, Step-Grandchildren: Josh (Viviana) Belling, Brittany (Rawell) Catasilan, and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, two great granddaughters, and many cherished friends.
A private family funeral service will be held.
