Scott Wayne Mumford, age 64 passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 with his sisters Catherine and Jennie, and brother James by his side. Scott was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 24, 1959, to Wallace Wayne Mumford and Patricia Kay (Eckhardt) Mumford. He attended school at Lincoln Northeast High School. He started his working career at Valentino's, continued on to work at Lincoln Public Schools, Snyder Industries, Walker Muffler in Seward NE, then finished out his career at Schneider Electric.
Scott's passions were sports, especially Husker football and favorite NFL team the Raiders. He loved restoring cars. He was a workaholic. Liked to play pool and backgammon, loved to entertain family for husker football games. He loved picking on nieces and nephews. He always started paper fights on Christmas, was always first in line as well as last in the line for the feast at the family holidays, and loved food-LOVED BACON!!! He had the best way of making turkey, with his turkey recipe becoming a family tradition. Scott was generous in times of need to his family. He made a huge impression and was a true inspiration to everyone. His positive attitude, courage, and dignity was second to none.
Preceded by parents; nephew Christopher Mumford, niece Tiara Mumford. Survived by Catherine (Larry) Snell; James (Karen) Mumford; John (Deb) Mumford; Rick Mumford and Jennie Stoup; 11 nieces and nephews and 19 great nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Scott will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM. Memorials can be designated to the family for a memorial brick at Sunken Gardens.
