Nancy Lou Newhouse

Nancy Lou Newhouse, passed away on September 22, 2022, at Tabitha at Williamsburg – Harbor House, Lincoln, NE. Born to Keith Norman and Betty Jane (Douglass) Newhouse on December 27, 1952, she was 69. Nancy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English and Journalism from the University of Nebraska in 1975, where she was a Regents Scholar, and a Master of Arts in Journalism from the University of Colorado in 1985.

Nancy was a US Peace Corp volunteer in Fiji at the institute of Pacific Studies, University of South Pacific. Her career included working for the Lincoln Journal Star as a reporter, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Division of Continuing Studies as an editor and instructional designer and at Tabitha Health Care Services as a Homemaker and personal care attendant.

Nancy was a Member of the Alpha Lamba Delta women’s honorary, Kappa Tau Alpha journalism honorary, and the Society of Professional Journalists-Sigma Delta Chi. She enjoyed writing, music, knitting, and photography.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brothers, Paul Newhouse and his husband, Ray Goodrow, Norman and Irene Kildau Newhouse, and her niece Abigail Newhouse, several cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends should gather at Gate (2) at 9:45 am prior to the service. The family requests that memorials be directed to The Tabitha Foundation 4720 Randolph, Lincoln, NE 68510 in Nancy’s memory.
