Myrna Kathryn Mehser, 91, died on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at The Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Syracuse. She was born in Friend, Nebraska to Marcus Christian and Mabel (Range) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Myrna graduated from high school in Friend. After graduation, she worked at the Elgin watch factory in Lincoln. She married and had seven children. Myrna worked hard to raise her children. She became a Certified Nurse’s Assistant and worked in nursing homes including The Sunderman Home in Seward and The Good Samaritan Home in Auburn, Nebraska. Nursing was the perfect job for her caring personality. Her laughter and smile were contagious. She became reacquainted with John “Jack” Mehser and they married in 1975. They lived in Nemaha, Panama, & Lincoln, Nebraska. She had a love for all children and spent quality time playing games with her grandchildren. Her hobbies were cake decorating, crocheting, and crafts. She loved to listen to all songs by Johnny Cash. Preceded in death by: parents; husband, John “Jack” Mehser: son and significant other Michael D. Shores and Carol Borgmann; brother Bernard Johnson; sister Jeanette Wattles; and stepson John Mehser. Survivors by: daughters: Linda & Wes Scherer, Shell Knob, MO; Suzanne & Kenny Belcher, Unadilla, NE; Barbara & Richard Peterson, DeWitt, NE; Lori Shores, Tobias, NE; Mary & Del Cramm, Lincoln, NE; Diana & Mark Watton, Wahoo, NE. step-children: Dale Mehser, Lincoln, NE; Jeanne Bunderson, Casper, WY; Jodi Waters, Omaha, NE. 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, & 7 step-great-grandchildren; sister: Bernadeen Larsen, Syracuse, NE; and many nieces & nephews. Visitation: Family greeting friends from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, all at Lincoln Memorial.
