Mary A. “Mickie” Jeter of Lincoln died April 6, 2019. Born July 29, 1945 to Stanley C. and Mary Bertha (Luben) Wood in Lincoln, NE. During her high school years, she and a classmate played the organ for the Weeping Water Congregational Church. She was an active high school band member, playing the oboe and drums. She was an active 4H member, baking many pies for the Cass County Fair. Following graduation from Weeping Water High School, she worked for the ASCS Office in Weeping Water and later worked for the First Federal Savings and Loan in Lincoln for several years. For many years, Mickie was an AVON representative. On May 14, 1967, Mary was united in marriage with Mark T. Jeter.
Mary is survived by her husband, Mark of Lincoln; son, Jeffrey (Sonja) Jeter of Greenville, WI; two grandchildren, Keegan and Kylah; a sister, Susan Mitchell of Grand Blanc, MI, and by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mary loved to talk with many friends and relatives. She was good at keeping
extended family members connected with each other. She was a special friend to neighborhood children. Cooking and baking were two of her lifelong talents. She was an active flower gardener and worked many hours taking care of the yard. She loved to do the daily newspaper word jumbo. During October the last 16 years, she and Mark loved to attend craft shows in Northwest Arkansas for one week and then during the following week, attend shows in Branson. Mary also loved to travel to Minnesota for summer vacations and travel to her husband’s tennis team tournament locations. Her real enjoyment was seeing her two grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Vine Congregational Church U.C.C., 1800 Twin Ridge Road with a luncheon to follow the service. Interment will be on Friday at 1:30 PM at Lincoln Memorial Park, please gather at Gate 3. Visitation will be on Thursday April 11, 2019 from 6 until 8 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Memorials have been suggested to Vine Congregational Church U.C.C.
