Marjorie Mae Snodgrass

Marjorie Mae Snodgrass, age 89, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. She was born September 21, 1934, to Harley Lester Warren and Verda Nellie (Skinner) Warren on a farm near Giltner, Nebraska, the youngest of six children. She was baptized on May 23, 1943 at First Christian Church in Aurora, Nebraska.

Marjorie was a graduate of Aurora High School in 1952 and Hastings College in 1956. She taught one year at Minden High School and worked as a "storm girl" for General Adjustment Bureau processing wind, hail, and tornado claims in temporary storm offices in the midwest from 1957 to 1962 in Chicago, moving back to Lincoln in May of 1962. She worked for Weaver Minier, then the Lincoln Journal as secretary to the editorial page editor until 1964. She met Delbert Owen Snodgrass while working at the Lincoln Journal. They were married August 1, 1964. Two sons were born to this union, Curtis Owen Snodgrass and Steven Eric Snodgrass.

Marjorie returned to work in 1973 as claims processor at Alexander & Alexander. She retired in 1996, working part time at the State of Nebraska Health and Human Services for approximately five years, followed by part time work as a tagger at the dry cleaning station for three years.

Marjorie was active in First Christian Church since 1962, serving in various positions including as the first woman chair of the board and for many years as treasurer of First Christian Church Foundation for 24 years. She was also a member of the church choir for over 50 years, as well as Disciple Women. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter ES, supported Lincoln Literacy, was a member of OLLI, and enjoyed the many musical and dramatic presentations in Lincoln, as well as traveling. Her first overseas trip was in August of 1987 with Nellie and Ole to visit Larry in London. Her second overseas trip was to Europe with Jeanette Schneckloth and Mary Klapper in 1993. Her third overseas trip was to Europe with Glenda in 1995. Her fourth overseas trip took her to England with Glenda, Jeanette, and Yvone in 1998. She also has traveled to Canada with Curt in 1999 to visit pipe organ companies, Ireland with Glenda in 2003, and Alaska with Curt and Sophie in 2013.

Preceded in death by her husband of twenty-three years Delbert, parents, and three brothers and two sisters.

Survived by her sons Curt (Phi) Snodgrass and son Steve (Jill) Snodgrass, and four grandchildren, Claire, Mara, Eden, and Bennett Snodgrass, many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 am Saturday, December 23, 2023 at First Christian Church, 430 South 16th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. Burial at Lincoln Memorial Park on December 23, 2023 at 2 pm.
