Lyle was born on October 3, 1952 to Jack and Mary Davis in Unionville, MO. Lyle grew up in Davenport, IA where he married the love of his life Catherine (Allinger) on May 18, 1974. Together they had two children Amy and Kelly. In 1986 the family relocated to Lincoln, NE where Lyle passed away peacefully in his home on January 30, 2022.
Lyle was preceded in death by his father Jack Davis, his brother Rex Davis, mother-in-law Wanita Allinger and brothers-in-law Jim Allinger and Frank Allinger.
Survivors cherishing his memories include his wife Cathy of Lincoln, NE; daughter Amy (Michael) Keller of Olathe, KS; daughter Kelly (Toby) Schroder of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren Gavin, Max, Cole, Emmerson, and Jack; mother Mary (Decker) Davis of Ottumwa, IA; brother Chris (Tammra) Davis of Davenport, IA; brother David (Julie) Davis of Davenport, IA; sister Penny (Dave) Shontz of Greenwich, NY; sisters-in-law Rosie Allinger of Cedar Rapids, IA and Evelyn Allinger of Wylie, Texas; nieces, nephews, and numerous friends who have become family over the years.
Lyle’s favorite things included spending as much time as possible with his family and friends as well as cheering on his favorite teams including the Iowa Hawkeyes and the St. Louis Cardinals. Lyle and Cathy’s grandparenting skills have been described as “epic” and you would most often find him on the sideline of one of his grandchildren’s games, matches, or meets, cheering them on for football, soccer, gymnastics, wrestling, dance, baseball, and basketball. His greatest memories include spending time with family during holidays and vacations, going to Disney, special visits from family and friends and the many nights and weekends spent enjoying life with his neighbors and friends on North 21st Street.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday February 6th starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Isles Reception Hall (located at 6232 Havelock Avenue, Lincoln, NE). The family invites you all to come and share your greatest memories of Lyle, and enjoy some pizza and beer as we celebrate the great husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend that he was.
Funeral Services will take place Monday, February 7th with a visitation hour from 1 to 2 pm immediately followed by his service at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home (located at 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, NE).
Casual attire is welcomed.
