She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert, her two sons, Lee and Nick, her daughter-in-law, Alyson, and her eight beloved grandkids.
Loretta was born July 25, 1949 in Mankato, Minnesota to Arend and Gladys Honken. She grew up on a farm where she learned her strong work ethic. When she was sixteen, she met the love of her life and married him four years later. Bob, Loretta and Lee lived in Germany and Georgia while Bob was in the military. When Nick was born, their family was complete. In 1975, they moved to Lincoln where they found the house they would call home for the next 44 years. Loretta began her 32-year career at Square D Company and retired in 2012. She developed many long-lasting friendships during her career.
Loretta was active in the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary (DAVA) for many years at the local and state level. She held several different offices including Unit Commander and State Commander. Her industrious and generous personality was put to good use in assisting disabled veterans and other veterans in need.
Loretta enjoyed gardening, baking and cooking, crafts, motorcycling, cheering on the Nebraska volleyball team, birdwatching, socializing, and her grandchildren. Her family and friends will remember her as always upbeat, generous, forgiving, and sometimes goofy. She knew how to express her love and was always willing to lend an ear.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, brother Roger, and sisters, Carolyn, Diane, and Elaine.
