Evangeline graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946. In 1947, she married Leslie H. Brehm and from this marriage four children were born: Linda, Sandra, Alex, and Chris. Evangeline was a homemaker along with working various jobs. She later retired from Lancaster Manor. She will be remembered for her delicious German cooking including golf ball soup, homemade runzas, and "dina kuchen" (German cake). Evangeline was a member of Immanuel Reformed Church. Most importantly, Evangeline will be remembered for the love she had for her cherished family.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Jim) Matticks, Sandra (Terry) Smith, Alex Brehm, and Chris (Tammy) Brehm; grandchildren, Christine (Jared) Schutte, Cody Matticks, Kelly (Casey) Smith, Kyle Smith (friend, Elainea Perez), Jeremy (Sara) Brehm, Jason Brehm (Kimberly Whitton); many great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; parents, Alexander and Emma Greenwalt; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Conrad and Elizabeth Brehm; siblings, Alexander Jr., Emma, and Dwayne; grandson, Adam Matticks; along with sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.
A funeral service for Evangeline will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. Visitation is on Monday, December 16, 2024 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Following the funeral service, there will be an interment at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, 6700 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. Memorials are in the care of the family for future designation. Arrangements entrusted to Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Lincoln, Nebraska.
