Erika Regina Barton, 90, passed away December 22, 2018. She was born July 31, 1928 in Freystadt, West Prussia, Germany (now called Poland) to Otto Seiberlich and Martha Reinhardt Seiberlich. The family fled the Russian Armies in 1945 and lived in Northwest Germany until 1958. She was a grade school teacher for 5 years until coming to the United States in 1958, and was united in marriage to Joe L. Barton, SSgt, United States Air Force. They lived in Blytheville, AR and Madrid, Spain; moving to Lincoln in 1963. She continued her education at UNL, receiving her Ph.D. in 1972. She taught German and Spanish at Doane College in Crete from 1969 until her retirement in 1996. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1963. Erika is survived by her brothers, Reinhardt and Siegfried of Germany and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe in 2002 and one sister. Services will be Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials have been suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.
