family as Eddy, died in the home of his daughter Tammy. He was a husband, father, and
grandfather. He passed away at the age of 80. Edward was born on March 26, 1940 in
Lincoln, NE, to Karl G and Lydia M Voss.
He enlisted into the army in 1963 and served for 2 years. After the service he returned
home to Lincoln, and was hired on by Burlington Northern Railroad as a Diesel Machinist
at the West “O” Street shop. He worked there for 40 years and retired in 2001. He found
the love of his life, Donna Mae Voss, they married on April 15, 1967 and celebrated 46
years of marriage. Eddy and Donna raised two daughters, Tammy Marie and Kimberly
Ann.
Edward enjoyed tinkering around outdoors and in the garage with his projects, his old
Plymouth Barracuda, and Ford pickup truck. In any spare time left, he also liked to do a
little drawing and painting. He loved sharing of his experiences as cook in the army and
his love of all types of locomotives and trains, and how they worked and the differences in
them.
He was preceded in death by his father, Karl, his mother, Lydia, and his wife Donna. He is
survived by his two daughters, Tammy Eckley and Kim Simmons, his brother Ernest Voss,
two granddaughters, Karly Peck and Cortney Sherwood, two grandsons, Noah Sherwood
and Kody Downs, a grandson-in-law Daniel Peck, one great grandson, Nathan Peck, and
several cousins.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2021, 5:00-7:00pm, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. 6800 S. 14th St, Lincoln, NE. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 3, 2021, 10:00am, at Temple Baptist Church. 4940 Randolph St, Lincoln, NE. A Luncheon will held at the church after the service before procession to the cemetery. Committal Service and Interment at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. 6700 S. 14th St, Lincoln, NE.
