Donald W. Wright, age 95, passed away on October 27, 2021. He was born March 28, 1926 in Central City, Nebraska to Eric and Verna Wright. He Lived in Central City until his graduation from Central City High School and moved to Lincoln, Nebraska to begin his 42 year career at The National Bank of Commerce. He served in the Air Force from July 1944 until June 1946 with theaters of service in Le Havre, France; Brussels, Belgium; and Ansbach, Germany. He remained in the Active Reserve until his honorable discharge as a Tech Sergeant in December 1952.
Don was an avid golfer achieving hole-in-ones on three separate occasions. He spent many hours in his shop doing woodworking projects creating furniture and family keepsakes. He was a Lincoln Stars Hockey season ticket holder from the inaugural season until last year. Summer vacations were spent in the Colorado Summit area playing golf at various courses with his family. Don was actively involved at Christ Church (formerly Christ Lutheran) and volunteered in many capacities over the years.
Don is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruth; sister Iva Patitz; children Cynthia (Michael) Donnelly; David Wright; Catherine (Scott Riha) Vilda; and Christine (Mark) Matousek; grandchildren Benjamin (Katie Kjolhede) Vilda; Annie (Beau) Boryca; Kelsey (Joshua) Podrebarac; Kristin (Joshua) Sims; and several great-grandchildren.
