Dawn attended school in Brock, Nebraska and graduated in 1959 from Brock High School. She furthered her education at Lincoln School of Commerce.
Dawn went to work for New Hampshire Insurance Group and worked there for 10 years, until she decided it was to time to be a stay-at-home mother. Once her children reached the age she could go back to working outside the home, she got a job with General Casualty Insurance where she worked for and addition 10 years before retiring in 2004.
On June 8, 1968 she was united into marriage to Bernard L. Polson in Brock, Nebraska. To this union two children Teri and David were born. The first years of their marriage were spent in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska. In 1974, they moved to Arvada Colorado where they lived until 1981 when they moved to Lincoln.
In the early 1960’s, Dawn won the City of Lincoln Bowling Tournament. Dawn enjoyed Nebraska volleyball, Denver Broncos football, Cubs baseball, auto racing, having coffee with her friends and getting together with the 4 J’s. Most of all, she enjoyed all the activities her grandson Tanner Jonas was involved in, and she very rarely missed an activity. Dawn would do anything for Tanner and was so proud to call him her Grandson.
Dawn passed away on Tuesday June 6, 2021 at her home having reached the age of 80 years and 21 days. She was preceded in death by her mother on December 16, 1981 and her father on January 19, 1997.
Dawn is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Bernard Polson; children Teri (Tim) Jonas; David Polson and his significant other Shunda; grandson Tanner Jonas; nieces/nephews and other relatives and many great friends.
A memorial celebration of life will be 10:00 am Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. 6800 S 14th Street Lincoln, Nebraska 68512. In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorials to the family to be designated at a later date.
