Mrs. Darlene Jenette Schenaman, age 89, of Lincoln, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Darlene was born March 15, 1935 to Alois and Gertrude Goeden in Fordyce, Nebraska. Darlene is survived by her two loving sons, David Schenaman, Gary (Patricia) Schenaman; two sisters, Janice Jernigan, Mardelle Kess; grandchildren, Lee Schenaman, Jennifer Schenaman; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Schenaman, brother Leonard Goeden, sisters Marion Williams, Lucille Cramer, and Luverne Egger.
Darlene married Robert L. Schenaman on Halloween, October 31st, 1953, at Salem Congregation Church in Lincoln, Nebraska and was baptized there on April 16th, 1960. Darlene worked with her sister Luverne at Ovaltine Food Products and then at Harris Labs for 28 years until she retired in 2004. Darlene loved to travel with her family throughout her life. Darlene and Robert enjoyed taking their sons on multiple family trips throughout the U.S. and specifically enjoyed skiing together in Colorado. Darlene and Robert traveled internationally to Hong Kong, China before Robert's passing in 2000. After Robert's death Darlene continued her travel adventures and went to Australia, Italy, Costa Rica, France, and Ireland. She enjoyed other hobbies such as volunteering at Lincoln Bryan Hospitals and the Ross Theater. She valued learning more at her classes through the OLLI program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, dancing at Moose Lodge 175 and Pla Mor Ballroom. She loved the simple things in life such as watching Jeopardy, getting her nails done, going to the movies, working on crossword puzzles, capturing family memories, going bowling, and attending her grandchildren's school and sporting events. She lived a full life filled with generosity to multiple organizations and her church. She gave the gift of her presence, love, joy, faith, and laughter to many people. Her beautiful smile and infectious laugh will be carried on and missed by many.
